Title: The guide dog
Summary: This info session provides participants general information about guide dogs.
Objectives: Provide participants basic information on guide dogs: How they are trained, existing guide dog schools in your country, what they can do, which instructions should the blind person give to the dog in order to guide him / her properly, etc.
Materials / Equipment needed: No specific one. But if you wish you can use a PPT presentation with some information or a short film about guide dogs, if you have one.
Group size: Any size
Duration: 20-25 minutes (more time needed if the use of the guide dog is shown in practice)
Step-by-step instructions:

The Vi facilitator shows a short film / movie on this topic. Please, ask to your organisation to check if there is a short movie in your language to give information about guide dogs. If you don’t have any film, you can prepare your own presentation.

Vi facilitator can provide information just orally, or using the support of a PPT presentation. If the Vi facilitator has got some direct contacts, he/she can invite a trainer working in the School for Guide Dogs, so that he / she can help the Vi facilitator in the info session. If the Vi facilitator has got a guide dog, he can show to participants how the dog can guide him.

At the end of the session, participants ask questions in order to know more about guide dogs. The activity ends with a debriefing held by the facilitator using some questions for reflection e.g. the ones of the “Reflection / Evaluation questions” section.

Reflection and evaluation questions: To conclude the activity the facilitator asks participants to share their impressions, thoughts and feelings and he/she can lead a discussion on the things learned: What did you learn? Did you expect that…? Did you imagine that…? What do you think about…?
