Title: Autobiography with a letter…
Summary: Participants have blindfolds on their eyes. They are seated in a circle. Each one of them is supposed to prepare his/her autobiography with the most frequent use of the letter, which is the first letter of their first name. This autobiography does not have to be real. It can be, e.g., My name is Kate. I come from Kenya, I live in Kyrgyzstan, I like ketchup, I have a collection of keyboards….
Objectives: Knowing the names of each other
Materials / Equipment needed: Blindfolds for participants
Group size: Any size
Duration: 10 minutes (for a group of approximately 10 persons)
Step-by-step instructions: The steps and rules are explained in the summary. It is the vi facilitator who starts the game.
Reflection and evaluation questions: After the game participants share their reflexions and feelings: how it was to take part in this exercise without seeing each other? Was their perception in their opinion different than if they did not have the blinfolds? What about their comfort / well-being?
Possible risk factors: Some participants can feel very uncomfortable with the blindfolds for different reasons - their refusal of using it should be accepted.
