Summary: This info session provides to participants the first information they need in order to help / support a visually impaired person, especially if blind.
Objectives: Provide participants basic information on how to interact, guide and help a blind person (e.g. if you meet her on the street).
Materials / Equipment needed:

A PC with Internet connection and a projector connected to the computer. A short film in your language which explains how to support a blind person in the proper way.

Some ideas:

- Interaction with blind people . Please check the video

- Another option or directly from Youtube

- Some sketches (in English)

Group size: Any size
Duration: 20 minutes
Step-by-step instructions: The Vi facilitator shows a short film / movie on this topic. Please, ask to your organisation to check if there is a short movie in your language to explain how to interact, guide and support in general a blind person. The projection ends with a debriefing held by the facilitator using some questions for reflection e.g. the ones of the “Reflection / Evaluation questions” section.
Reflection and evaluation questions: To conclude the activity the facilitator asks participants to share their impressions, thoughts and feelings on the film they have just seen and he/she can lead a discussion on the things learned through the movie: What did you learn? Did you expect that…? Did you imagine that…? What do you think about…?
Possible risk factors: N/A
Variations: According to the average age of your group, you should find the most appropriate movie. It can be a funny cartoon for children, while it can be more serious for adults. Please, contact an association for visually impaired People in your country, if you wish to get information on the existing films on this topic in your language.
